Southwest Florida Medical Centers/Hospitals
Good medical care is important in any community, and Southwest Florida has some outstanding hospitals. Sarasota Memorial was included in the nation’s top 50 hospitals by U.S. News & World Report for the 4th year. With over 800 beds, open heart surgery, pediatric care, and intensive care are among its specialties. You may also choose the private Doctor’s Hospital.
Venice Regional Medical Center is a smaller 312 bed facility with emphasis on cardiac care, orthopedics and general surgery. Englewood Community Hospital has received national recognition for its treatment of heart attack and heart failure.
Port Charlotte has two hospitals, Fawcett Memorial and Peace River Regional. The only Charlotte County obstetrics unit is at Peace River.
Charlotte Regional Medical Center is a small hospital in Punta Gorda specializing in cardiac care.
For more serious conditions like heart transplants, cancer and pediatric emergencies, there are several hospitals in Tampa and St. Petersburg.
