Laurel communities
The various communities in Laurel all have some things in common. They are all off Laurel Road with direct access to I-75, all are a short drive to the beach, and all have central water and sewer and deed restrictions.
They differ in the age of the homes, the size of the homesites, price and the amenities they offer.
Laurel Woodlands Laurel Woodlands is a family neighborhood not far from the Laurel Road exit off I-75. From here it is only a five minute drive to Nokomis Beach. This private community of tiled rooftops is a little closer to Venice than Sarasota but either one is a short drive.
For daily services, Venice is handy. For special events or a wider array of services and shopping, Sarasota is about 25 minutes away.
Students in Laurel Woodlands attend nearby Nokomis Elementary, Laurel Middle and Venice High Schools.
Since most of the homes were built in the late 80s or early 90s, the lush tropical landscaping has had time to mature. You’ll see a canopy of trees and plenty of flowers along the sidewalks. Streets here are named for presidents like Truman, Eisenhower and Hoover and homes range from 1700 to over 2600 sq. feet.
Both the lots and the homes are spacious, giving the gated community a hometown feeling. A modest mandatory homeowner’s association fee includes a manager, common grounds maintenance, private road and reserves, which helps maintain the value of your investment.
Being outside of the city limits of both Venice and Sarasota, the taxes are a little lower since you are only paying county taxes.
