Dolphin Shores
Homes in Dolphin Shores seem to have a nautical flair. Some are two-story raised cottage style. Others are Key West style. Many have upper balconies to capture the water view.
This newer gated, waterfront community provides Gulf access for many homes. In this small, secluded canal front area, residents may dock their watercraft at their back door and take a 10-minute trip to the Gulf of Mexico. You do have one fixed bridge to go under so only smaller motorboats could be used in this area.
From this location, you could literally walk to Nokomis Beach.
Dolphin Shores Homeowners Association is part of the larger 39-community member Nokomis Area Civic Association, which is a voice for protection of the whole Nokomis area. This group is diligently working on a plan for the US 41 corridor through town including an Old Florida or Key West theme for commercial architecture, more parks and colorful landscaping, less obtrusive signage and better crossovers for pedestrians. All of these new amenities will enhance the beauty and quality of life in Nokomis.
The unique feature of Dolphin Shores is that boats are protected by being hidden in the canals, yet it is only a few minutes to the Gulf via Lyons Bay. Hopping on I-75 is easy also. Just take Laurel Road right out to the interstate in a few minutes.
